I'm really looking forward to going out to the Glass Outhouse Gallery on Monday, July 3rd at 7pm. We will be discussing the classic desert book The Land of Little Rain by Mary Austin and enjoying yet another stunning Wonder Valley sunset with our hosts Laurel and Frank. There are several inexpensive paperback editions available on the used book market, and the Penguin Nature Classics edition has an introduction by one of our favorite authors, Terry Tempest Williams. See you in Wonder Valley!

Susan Lang wrote a series of 3 novels following the life of a powerful female Pipes Canyon original homesteader. I have been eager for us to read Juniper Blue, the second in the series for the June 5th Book Club meeting in Wonder Valley at 7:00.

When Leonardo Bravo, director of Education and Public Programs at the Palm Springs Art Museum's Architecture and Design Center suggested that the Desert Book Club meet at the museum, I jumped at the chance. When I suggested that he make the monthly desert book selection, Desert Notes by Barry Lopez was mentioned, a small but powerful volume which I have found highly satifying.
