kip's desert book club
rancho costa nada by phil garlington
december 3rd at kip's house in north joshua tree

Who among us has not dreamed of building a structure in the desert made of sandbags and plywood scraps? When I got my copy of Rancho Costa Nada by Phil Garlington, I knew that it was going to be a big hit with the Book Club. Much more than a how-to for building an affordable shelter in a harsh environment, this book slices through a complete section of desert culture. It is available new, used, digital and free from the author's website.

We will be meeting at my house, 63452 Winters Rd. in North Joshua Tree. From down town JT, turn North on Sunburst, right on Golden, left on Border, keep your eyes out for Pole and Del Oro signs and turn right on Winters, with the street sign on the left hand side of the road and the Book Club sign on your right. Drive one mile and I'll be on the left with the reflective orange triangle on a post and another  Book Club sign. See you at 7:00pm on December 3rd. I'll have the wood burning stove all warmed up for you!

It's not too early to pick up a copy of the next book, The Desert by Brandon Shimoda for our meeting at Boxo House in January.
