Kip's Desert Book Club
Small Rocks Rising by Susan Lang
June 6, 2016

769 In Small Rocks Rising, Susan Lang reveals the incredible stories of the pioneering women of Pipes Canyon in novel form. Growing up immersed in this vibrant culture allows Susan to use her writing skill to bring this story to life in a series of 3 books following the life of Ruth Farley. I assure you that the Book Club will be reading the next two volumes and also her latest book, The Sawtooth Complex, in the near future. I am also pleased to announce the environmental classic, Cadillac Desert, by Marc Reisner as our July selection. You can also pick up a copy of Twentynine Palms by Deanne Stillman for August.

We will be meeting on the patio of Steve and Mary Helen Tuttle's dome house in North Joshua Tree, June 6th at 7 pm, so bring a folding chair if you have one. From downtown JT, go north down Sunburst, right on Golden, left on Border drive 3.9 miles and keep your eyes out for Pole and Del Oro signs and turn right on Winters, (street sign on the left hand side of the road) and the large Book Club sign on your right. Drive about 2 miles and turn right on Sunever. It's the first dome on the left, I'll mark it with a sign so you can't miss it. There is limited parking inside the fence, so do your best to park outside the compound, we'll squeeze you all in.
